Mines Odds Calculator

Compare cumulative survival, bust risk and the chance of the final required click for any mine count and safe-pick target on a 25-tile board.

This page does not predict safe tiles. It only calculates the probability of reaching a selected cashout point before a mine is revealed.

Mines probability table by safe-pick target

The table below is pre-filled for the default 3-mine setup and recalculates when you change the controls. It separates next-click probability from cumulative survival. Next-click values describe only the next reveal; cumulative values describe the full target before any tile is revealed.

P = C(25 − M, s) / C(25, s)
Bust risk = 1 − P
Fair multiplier = 1 / P

Next-click probability describes only the next reveal. Cumulative survival describes the chance of reaching the row’s full safe-pick target from the start of the round.

What this Mines odds calculator shows

The page is built around probability-first Mines analysis. It does not focus on bet amount or payout planning; it focuses on the chance of reaching a safe-pick target and the risk of failing before that target.

Mines survival chance

Survival chance is the cumulative probability of revealing the selected number of safe tiles before hitting a mine. This is the main odds metric for any cashout target.

Mines bust risk

Bust risk is the opposite side of survival chance. If a setup has a 35% survival chance, the bust risk before reaching that target is 65%.

Next-click probability

Next-click probability only describes the next tile reveal after a certain number of safe picks. It should not be confused with the full chance of reaching a deeper target.

How Mines probability is calculated

Cumulative survival formula

Survival chance measures the probability of reaching the selected number of safe tiles without revealing a mine.

Survival probability:
P = C(25 − M, s) / C(25, s)

M = number of mines
s = target safe picks

Per-click probability formula

The next-click probability changes after each safe reveal because fewer tiles remain on the board.

Before click k:
Remaining tiles = 25 − (k − 1)
Remaining safe = 25 − M − (k − 1)

Next safe chance = remaining safe / remaining tiles
RTP does not change the probability of revealing safe tiles. For a fixed mine count and target, survival chance and bust risk stay the same; RTP only changes the multiplier a casino pays for that probability.

Survival chance vs next-click odds

These two numbers are often confused. Next-click odds can remain relatively high while cumulative survival becomes much lower after several planned safe picks.

Next-click odds

Next-click odds describe only the immediate next reveal. If there are 20 safe tiles and 22 total tiles remaining, the next-click safe chance is 20 / 22.

Cumulative odds

Cumulative odds describe the full path to a target, measured from a fresh board. Reaching 5 safe picks is not the same as having a good chance on only the fifth click.

For payout planning, cumulative survival matters more than a single next-click value. For tile-by-tile risk awareness, next-click probability is useful but still does not predict which tile is safe.

What the main probability metrics mean

Survival chance Reach target

The chance of completing the selected number of safe picks from the start of the round.

Bust risk Fail before target

The probability that a mine appears before the selected safe-pick target is completed.

Fair odds 1 / probability

The zero-edge price of the target. A 50% chance has fair odds of 2.00x.

A target with a high fair multiplier is not “better” by itself. It usually means the target is harder to reach. Read multiplier and survival chance together.

Nearest cashout row for a target multiplier

Closest table row

For the selected mine count, the calculator compares your target multiplier with available fair cashout points and estimates the closest safe-pick target.

5 safe picks

Closest fair multiplier: 2.0175x. Survival chance: 49.57%.

Ideal fair survival50.00% Discrete-row gap−0.43 pp

Why closest does not mean safer

The closest row only shows which cashout point has the nearest fair multiplier. It does not recommend a click and does not identify a better tile.

Common mistakes when reading Mines probability

Mistake 1: confusing next-click chance with total risk

A next-click value can look comfortable even when the cumulative chance of reaching several safe picks is much lower.

Mistake 2: treating high odds as a signal

High odds do not mean the game is “ready” to pay. They mean the selected target is unlikely enough to justify a larger fair multiplier.

Mistake 3: believing in safe-tile predictors

An odds calculator cannot reveal hidden mine positions. A tool that claims to show future safe tiles is making a different claim than probability calculation.

Worked Mines probability examples

These examples use fair probability only. They do not include RTP-adjusted casino payouts.

3 mines and 5 safe picks

Survival chance is 49.57% and bust risk is 50.43%. The final required click has an 85.71% safe chance, while the fair multiplier for the full target is 2.0175x.

1 mine and 3 safe picks

Survival chance is 88.00% and bust risk is 12.00%. The third required click has a 95.65% safe chance, and the fair multiplier is 1.1364x.

10 mines and 10 safe picks

Survival chance falls to 0.0919%, so bust risk is 99.91%. The fair multiplier rises to 1,088.5x because the full target is extremely unlikely to be reached.

FAQ

What are Mines odds?

Mines odds are the probabilities of reaching a chosen safe-pick target before a mine is revealed. They can be expressed as survival chance, bust risk, fair odds or fair multiplier.

Is this a Mines probability calculator?

Yes. This page calculates Mines probability for a 25-tile board, including cumulative survival chance, bust risk and next-click safe probability.

How do you calculate survival chance in Mines?

Survival chance is calculated as C(25 − M, s) / C(25, s), where M is the number of mines and s is the number of safe picks you want to reveal.

What is bust risk in Mines?

Bust risk is the probability that a mine appears before reaching your safe-pick target. It equals 1 minus the cumulative survival probability.

Are per-click odds and cumulative odds the same?

No. Per-click odds describe only the next tile reveal. Cumulative odds describe the chance of reaching the full target from the start of the round.

Can Mines odds predict the next safe tile?

No. Mines odds can describe probability, but they cannot identify hidden tile positions or predict the next safe tile in a properly random game.
